This book was born out of surprise for how many of my financial coaching clients came to me with portfolios containing an obvious investment fraud.
Equally surprising was how unaware most investors were to the tell-tale signs of an investment fraud. What was obvious to me was completely impossible for the client to see... until they had the right education.
Once you know what to look for then investment fraud looks obvious to you as well.
Initially the book began as a series of articles to educate my clients. But there was no definitive book on the subject so I expanded and updated all the material to serve this need.
I find it particularly interesting how this is my least popular book because it's not a fun subject and nobody wakes up wanting to read about investment fraud. It completely contradicts the marketing rule that you should give people what they want, not what they need.
Nobody wants this book, but every investor needs it. I believe it is arguably one of the most valuable and important books in the entire 60 Minute Financial Solutions series.
The information in this book has directly saved my clients hundreds of thousand of dollars, and it can do the same for you... if you just read it.
About the Author
Todd R. Tresidder's financial writing has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Smart Money Magazine, Investor's Business Daily, Yahoo Finance, Bankrate.com, and more. He is a former hedge fund manager who "retired" at age 35 to become a financial consumer advocate and money coach. Tressider comes across with the right balance of caution and common sense. He doesn't see crook under every rock but tells you how to recognize them before they get your money. He doesn't pull punches in identifying where mainstream institutional legal fraud exists but also recognizes the honesty/work ethic of many in the industry. It is a dry subject but he gives valuable distinctions, checklists, insights in trying to evaluate if you are dealing with a legitimate salesman/investment or not. Excellent resource to have and refer to now and for future investments. It will be helpful when the siren song of high yield investment pitches are tempting you.
