About the Author
Dr. Eugene Cordes has served as Vice President of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Research Laboratories of Merck and Company and as President of Research and Development at Sterling Winthrop Pharmaceuticals Inc. In addition he has been a professor at Indiana University and the University of Michigan. He is the author of The Tao of Chemistry and Life (OUP 2009) and several biochemistry textbooks.

Of course I focus on the nits...

BUT While I can forgive an error of 5 orders of magnitude in the size of an atomic nucleus, no chemist active in the 1940-1970 period should omit cobalt from a list of elements essential in human nutrition (We watched the B-12 synthesis happen). And it just bothers me to see an actual chemist say "92 natural elements" (astatine and francium, at least, shouldn't be included as natural; probably not technetium...unless you want to expand the list to include a few heavy actinides.) A chemist should say "about 90."
But the book is really about the drug discovery stories. They're wonderful. Frankly, the one failure is my favorite of all.

Having done drug discovery in big pharma, I really enjoyed “Hallelujah Moments” for its pithy, but riveting stories, thoughtful and concise explanations of concepts and its attention to the people who made it happen.
